PARISHVILLE - The Madrid-Waddington varsity boys and girls basketball teams gained an NAC East Division sweep on the road over their Parishville-Hopkinton counterparts on Thursday.
M-W 53, P-H 15: Jacob Barney and Alex Hammond tossed through 10 points apiece as the Yellowjackets (7-4, 6-2) opened with a 21-3 first-quarter run. Harrison VanBuren chipped in nine points followed by David Odenhahl with seven, Aaron Armstrong with five and Austin Lanning with four. Brandon Vice and TJ Gagnon added three points each while Dakota Matthie accounted for the other two.
Wyatt Snell paced the Panthers (2-8, 1-8) with five points. Mike Burns, Kobe Wells, Ryan Snyder, Garrett Hayes and Hunter Charleson each finished with two.
M-W 71, P-H 19: The Lady Yellowjackets worked their way to a 29-15 halftime lead before taking control in the second half as they raised their undefeated East Division leading record to 7-0. Tess Knight anchored a balanced offense with 16 points followed by Jenny King with 14, Olivia Parmeter with 11, Hannah Marcellus with 10, Desiree Pryce with seven, Kennedy Murray with six, Kaleigh Field with five and Sam Dugan with two.
Miranda Collins paced the Lady Panthers with six points. Nicole White added five while Kelsey Putnam and Kelsey Zenger each finished with four.
OTHER EAST HOOPS
The lone other NAC East girls basketball game played on Thursday saw Tupper Lake outlast Colton—Pierrepont 32-28 while the only East boys basketball matchup saw Chateaugay down Brushton-Moira 67-58.
Tupper Lake 32, C-P 28: In Colton, Courtney Marsh led all scorers with 13 points in the losing cause. Andrea Aldous added six points followed by Haylee Hennessy with four. Morgan Doyle and Kelsi Gilbert chipped in two points each while Eve Whalen netted a free throw.
Amie Luton and Lizzie Zurek anchored the Tupper Lake offense with nine points apiece. Sidney Kulzer contributed six. Lindsey Maroun and Katie Zurek each scored four.
Chateaugay 67, B-M 58: Noah Bowes fired through a game-high 23 points to lead the Bulldogs. Tyler Jones and Zach Cowan each added 11.
For the host Panthers, Alex Burnett tallied 18 points while Adam Martin and Bryan Aubrey each netted 10.
