N-N, SRF basketball teams play to NAC East Division split


NORFOLK - The Norwood-Norfolk Central girls earned their second win in a row while the St. Regis Falls boys netted their 14th straight as the two schools played to an NAC East Division varsity basketball split on Friday.


In the opening game of the night, the Lady Flyers worked their way to a 25-12 halftime lead before going on to notch their second straight win.

Senior Cadence Hunkins anchored the N-N effort with a career-night that saw her produce a personal record 22 points and 18 rebounds. Breanna Deshane tallied six points followed by Ayanna Mason and Kim Stewart with five points apiece. Miranda Langtry and Madison Seguin contributed four points each while Hannah Seguin accounted for the other three.

Bryanah Work paced the Lady Saints (2-4) with nine poins. Jenna Susice netted seven followed by Madison Greenwood with six and Harlie Gardner with two.

The Lady Flyers (2-6, 2-7) will look to extend their mid-season win streak on Monday on the road against Tupper Lake.


In the boys game, the visiting Saints led 18-4 at the end of the first quarter and went into halftime with a commanding 32-6 lead before going on to stretch their unbeaten record to 10-0 atop the East. Brandon Votra had a game-high 14 points for SRF followed by Corey LaBounty with 11 and Ryan Duquette with eight.

Ryan Fullerton and Kyle Steenberg paced the Flyers with four points each. Devin Guyette added three while Dustin Fisher, Ian St. Andrews, Zach Benware and Travis Gay each finished with two.


The lone other NAC East boys basketball matchup on Friday saw Tupper Lake stop Colton-Pierrepont 61-39.

Mitch Keniston netted a game-high 18 points as the visiting Lumberjacks ran out to a commanding 19-2 lead by the end of the first quarter. Morgan Stevens added 10 points followed by Cody LaPierre and Vodel Wesby with six apiece.

Ethan Knight led the Colts with 14 points followed by Zach Farr with 12, Scott Boyce with seven, Riley Doyle with four and Mark Dumas with two.
