Parishville man pleads guilty to breaking jaw of Clarkson lacrosse player


CANTON — Bryan A. Bicknell, 20, of 342 West Parishville Road, Parishville, plead guilty this morning to breaking the jaw of a Clarkson University lacrosse player in the early morning hours of Aug. 24.

Mr. Bicknell was charged with second-degree criminal assault, a class D felony, in connection with the Aug. 24 assault of 21-year-old Donald J. W. Whelley.It is alleged that Mr. Bicknell and Dakota J. Vallance, 18, of 399 Buckton Road, Winthrop, attacked Mr. Whelley at 1:52 a.m. on Maple Street in the village of Potsdam, leaving him in front of the former Honda dealership with “countless fractures and dislocating his face” after “striking him repeatedly about the head,” according to an indictment handed up by a St. Lawrence County grand jury Oct. 1.

Mr. Bicknell plead not guilty in October, but reached a plea deal with St. Lawrence County District Attorney Mary E. Rain.
