POTSDAM - Local professor Tracy Wanamaker will be recognized for her service to the community at a Feb. 8 event held by the St. Lawrence County Arts Council (SLC Arts).

Wanamaker of Potsdam is a board-certified music therapist with 20 years of experience. She currently works as a visiting instructor at the Crane School of Music, where she coordinates the Music in Special Education Concentration. Wanamaker is the founding director of Northern Notes Chorus, a choir for teenagers and adults with developmental disabilities. She also teaches community art and music therapy classes for teenagers and adults with developmental disabilities in Potsdam, Massena, and Gouverneur.

On Feb. 8 during their “Art Jam Up North” event at Between the Buns restaurant in Potsdam, SLC Arts will present Wanamaker with the 2014 Arts Recognition Award. The Arts Recognition Award is an honor bestowed annually by the SLC Arts Board of Directors to artists who have made a significant contribution to the arts and cultural life in our region.
