Bradish, Dominique named SUNY Canton Roos of the Week

CANTON - Janelle Bradish (Massena, NY) of the women’s basketball team andShayna Dominique (Mistissini, QUE) of the women’s hockey team have been named this week’s Roos of the Week, as announced on Monday.

Bradish continued her strong play averaging 15.5 points and 9.0 rebounds in a 1-1 week for the women’s basketball team. The sophomore led all players with 20 points to go with nine rebounds in a loss to host St. Lawrence University on Monday. She followed that up with an 11 point, nine rebound performance leading the Roos to a 66-55 victory over Fisher College on Saturday.

The Massena native is significantly upping her season averages as she is now averaging 7.1 points and 6.8 rebounds in 16 games this season. The women’s basketball team returns to the hardwood Friday at 4p.m. when it hosts the College of St. Joseph (VT) at the Roos House.

Dominique was a fortress in goal leading the Roos to a 1-0-1 record on the road at the University of New England. The team now improves to 7-12-3 in just their first season as a varsity program. The freshman was remarkable stopping 70 of the 71 shots she faced on the weekend as she earned her second shutout of the season with the 3-0 victory on Saturday. SUNY Canton played to a 1-1 overtime tie on Friday.

The Mistissini, QUE native has a .920 save percentage and 2.76 goals against average through 22 games of her young Roos career. The women’s hockey team is back in action February 4 when it travels to Aston, PA for a 7p.m. puck drop against Neumann University.
