POTSDAM - After five choices to the Liberty League Honor Roll this season, John Coleman of the Clarkson University mens basketball team was finally chosen as the conferences Performer of the Week on Monday following a memorable weekend that saw the junior eclipse the 1,000-point mark in his career.
A former Potsdam Central standout, Coleman averaged 19.5 points per game against RIT and Hobart in the teams victories, shooting 59.3% percent from the field (16-for-27). He also added in 6.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 2.5 steals per contest.
Coleman leads the conference in field goal percentage (56.6%) and steals per game (2.5 spg) while ranking third in scoring (18.9 ppg) and fourth in rebounding (7.2 rpg).
Coleman moved up to 16th all-time on Clarksons all-time scoring list with his 10th 20-plus point effort of the season against Hobart. His career scoring average of 15.45 ppg is the third-highest in the last 40 years of Clarkson Mens Basketball.
The Knights are slated to travel to Saratoga Springs tonight to take on Liberty League rival Skidmore starting at 8 p.m.
