SRF boys move one win away from perfect regular season

ST. REGIS FALLS - The St. Regis Falls moved one win away from completing a perfect run to the NAC East Division title with a 53-27 win at home over Colton-Pierrepont on Friday.

The Saints (17-0, 13-0) will look to cap their undefeated regular season today when they host East rival Brushton-Moira starting at 1 p.m.

In the win over the Colts (7-18, 5-9), Corey LaBounty netted 17 points and Brandon Votra struck for another 11 as the Saints relayed the momentum of a 15-4 first-quarter lead into the win. Louis Goodrow chipped in another nine puts and Ryan Duquette logged eight more.

Zach Farr led the Colts with 10 points followed by Ethan Knight with eight and Scott Boyce with five. Riley Doyle and Bruce Avery each netted two.

In the other East Division boys basketball matchups on Friday, Brushton-Moira outlasted Madrid-Waddington 62-56 and Chateaugay beat Norwood-Norfolk 71-23.

B-M 62, M-W 56: In Brushton, the host Panthers (8-8, 6-7) reversed a 26-19 halftime deficit with a 21-4 third-quarter run before turning back the Yellowjackets (9-9, 8-6). Adam Martin led all scorers with 19 points in the winning effort. Taylor Tallman connected for another 15 followed by Alex Burnett with 14.

TJ Gagnon led M-W with 17 points followed by Jacob Barney with 16 and Zach Brock with 14.

The Panthers will close out the regular season at home against unbeaten division leading St. Regis Falls today at 1 p.m. while M-W now heads into the Class D playoffs, which open on Wednesday, as the defending tournament champion.

Chateaugay 71, N-N 23: In Norfolk, the visiting Bulldogs (12-6, 11-3) raced out to a 37-14 halftime lead before going on to close out the regular season with the win. Owen Henderson had a team-high 12 points followed by Noah Bowes with nine, Ashilne with eight and Chad Stalter with seven.

Dustin Fisher led the Flyers (2-13, 2-11) with 11 points. Garrett Waite chipped in six while Zach Benware, Travis Gay and Gabe Thomas closed out the N-N scoring with two points each.

The Flyers return to action next Thursday in the opening round of the Class C playoffs.

EAST GIRLS HOOPS

In the lone East Division varsity girls basketball matchup staged on Friday, Chateaugay clinched a share of the regular season banner via a 45-23 win on the road over Norwood-Norfolk.

Hannah Cook anchored a balanced offense for the Lady Bulldogs (15-3, 13-1) with 14 points. Breanna Cook and Caitlin Miller added six points each. Abby Barnes and Alicia Cook netted four points apiece followed by Emily Dwyer with three. Danielle Charland, Rachel Young, Brandie Cook and Taylor Winch all finished with two points.

Hannah Seguin paced the Lady Flyers with eight points. Cadence Hunkins tossed through another seven followed by Ayanna Mason with four. Elizabeth Furnace, Desiree Palmer and Breanna Deshane closed out the N-N scoresheet with two points each.

The Lady Flyers (3-12, 3-10) close out their regular season this evening at East Division rival starting at 7 p.m. before gearing up for the Class C playoffs starting next Wednesday.
