Melvina E. Reid, 86, Potsdam, passed away Saturday February 8 at the St. Regis Nursing Home where she had been a resident since October 2013. A graveside service will be held in the spring at Garfield Cemetery, Potsdam. Arrangements are with Garner Funeral Service. Melvina was born May 2, 1927 to Harry and Helen (Chatrois) LaBarge. On August 1, 1946 she was married to Edgar V. Reid. Mr Reid predeceased her on January 9, 1998. She is survived by a son Allan and two daughters, Barbara Reid and Betty Perry, all of Potsdam. Six grandchildren, Rebecca (Henry) Miller, Hopkinton, Jason (Wendy) Reid, LasVegas, NV, Bonnie (Jeremy) Peterson, Pahrump,NV, Renee (Keith) Hooper, Ogdensburg, Justin Perry and Derek Perry, both of Potsdam. 15 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, and two nephews, Harry Green and Jerry Wells, both of Texas.Besides her husband she was predeceased her sister and brother in law, Susan and Louis Wells. Melvina was employed for 25 yrs at Clarkson Univ., retiring in 1988. She was a charter member of Northern NY Poultry Fanciers and was involved for many years with 4-H clubs in St Lawrence Co.
