AKWESASNE - Akwesasne Mohawk Casino Resort (AMCR) concluded its Truck into the New Year Ford F-150 Giveaway on Saturday and the lucky winner was Angeline Potvin from Laval, Que.

Overall, the promotion awarded a total of 240 guests with over $18,000 in cash and Slot Play, and one lucky grand prize winner.

The 2014 Ford F-150 Truck was provided by Bailey Motors Company of Malone and retails at $38,000. The truck has been on display at the Casino for a month, and generated a lot of excitement. One guest on Facebook exclaimed, “[the truck] is pretty now, but would look beautiful in my driveway!”

The Truck into the New Year Ford F-150 Giveaway promotion ran every Friday starting Janu. and running until Saturday’s grand prize drawing.

Each Friday, a grand prize qualifying round was held with briefcases, reminiscent of the popular TV show “Deal or No Deal.”

Each week, one lucky guest who chose the correct brief case advanced to the Grand Prize drawing and won $250 in Slot Play. On Saturday, five previous qualifiers and 15 wild cards would have a chance at winning the truck.

The 20 finalists were each given a chance to select a key, and the key that unlocked the truck door would determine the winner of a brand new Ford F-150 truck.

Josh Turner of Bailey Motors was present for the drawing of the $38,000 truck. As the drawing kicked off, AMCR Promotions/Event Manager Benjamin Herne said, “At this time we’d like to thank Bailey Motors for working with us.”

A large crowd surrounded the truck, and the anticipation grew as each key was selected.

Out of the 20 finalists, eight hailed from Canada. The other 12 finalists came from Burke, Brushton, Champlain, Hogansburg, North Bangor, Ogdensburg, and Tupper Lake. Angeline Potvin, from Laval, Que., was the10th finalist to select a key.

Potvin’s birthday is April 16, so she chose key number 16 for good luck. The crowd fell silent as Potvin inserted the key into the door, and then erupted in applause as the door to the Ford F-150 opened.
