MASSENA - The Massena Village Zoning Board of Appeals has a new man taking over the reins of the group.
Kevin Kerr was chosen as the new chairman of the village-elected crew Monday, taking over the vacancy left by the late December resignation of Timothy P. LePage. Mr. Kerr had previously been a member of the board.
Mr. LePage was appointed as the director of the countys probation department on Dec. 2.
The ZBA also introduced a new board member, Bob VanDusen, during their meeting yesterday. Both Mr. Kerr and Mr. VanDusen are in their positions under three-year terms.
In other action, the village officials approved an area variance request from Leonard J. Laneuville, 305 East Orvis St., who was looking for additional storage space for the building that houses Laneuville Liquor.
Im just looking for a small addition on the liquor store. Its going to go off to the left hand side of the building, as youre facing it. Theres a white house located there that I own so its no problem there, Mr. Laneuville said. I would go out the back (door). but thats where I push my snow.
The owner of Laneuville Liquor is Mr. Laneuvilles sister, Denise, but Leonard is the building owner. The business was formerly known as East Orvis Street Discount Liquors, when it was located at 199 East Orvis St.
The ZBA had previously granted permission for relocation of the business in January 2012.
