Elizabeth T. Maresca, 80, of Elkton, MD, passed away peacefully Sunday, February 9, 2014 in Owings, MD surrounded by her loving family.

Born July 1, 1933 in Union City, NJ, Bettie was the daughter of the late Francessco and Maddalena (Paturzo) Pollio. Bettie dedicated 37 wonderful years to working for the Cecil County Public School System as an elementary teacher. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Zeta Chapter, which is an honorary, international society for women educators. Bettie enjoyed spending her time educating her students and helping to enrich the lives of children and young adults in her community. Her most cherished moments were those spent with her family, especially her 8 grandchildren. Bettie’s legacy will be forever remembered not only though her children but also though the Elkton Boys and Girls Club’s “Elizabeth Maresca House”, which was dedicated in her honor in 2013.

Bettie is survived by her sons, Mario F. Maresca and his wife, Sandy of Owings, MD, Frank A. Maresca and his wife, Linda of Marietta, GA, and Michael Maresca, MD and his wife, Barbara of Hannawa Falls, NY; daughter, Felicia M. Nesbit, DDS and her husband, Frank of Port Tobacco, MD; and 8 grandchildren, Catherine, Gabrielle, Lauren, Leah, Margaret, Michael, Maddalena, and Elizabeth. Including her parents, Bettie was preceded in death by her late husband, Glauco Maresca, MD in 1963 and her loving companion, Rodgers Brown in 2007.

A visitation will be held from 6-8PM Friday, February 21, 2014 and from 9-11AM Saturday, February 22, 2014 at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, 259 E. Main St., Elkton, MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in Bettie’s honor at 11:30AM Saturday, February 22, 2014 at Immaculate Conception Church, 455 Bow St, Elkton, MD 21921. Burial will follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made payable to the Elkton Boys and Girls Club and sent in care to the funeral home.
