Public comments on the state police Facebook page led to the arrest of two Massena women who allegedly stole items from a store just outside the Ogdensburg city limits.
Joann Roehm, 42, of 10 Bishop Ave., and Amanda K. Delosh, 34, of 383 Willard Ave., both were charged with petit larceny for an alleged Dec. 8 theft at the Dollar General store, 7669 County Route 68.
Troopers said the arrests are linked to responses on a Feb. 7 Facebook post that provided surveillance footage from the store.
The footage included images captured about 6 p.m. of the women suspected to have stolen cosmetics and personal hygiene products.
They then left the store and possibly drove away in an older model silver Dodge Stratus with gold plates.
Ms. Roehm was charged Monday when she went to the state police barracks in Massena to inquire about troopers visiting her home Sunday, police said.
They said Ms. Delosh, who is being held in St. Lawrence County jail, Canton, on a second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument charge, admitted to her involvement in the theft when they interviewed her at the jail Feb. 11.
Both women were issued appearance tickets for Oswegatchie Town Court.
