PARISHVILLE — A Potsdam man was jailed Tuesday for the second time this month for allegedly sending more than 40 unwanted text messages to his ex-girlfriend.

State police on Tuesday charged Michael S. Hack, 40, of 1414 Old Potsdam-Parishville Road, Potsdam, with felony first-degree criminal contempt and misdemeanor second-degree aggravated harassment.

Troopers allege that on Feb. 8 Hack disobeyed a no-contact order of protection issued by Parishville Town Court when he texted his ex-girlfriend 43 times.

The order of protection was issued following Hack’s Feb. 5 arraignment in Town Court on charges of second-degree unlawful imprisonment and second-degree harassment. He was accused of grabbing, pushing and threatening his girlfriend and blocking a doorway to prevent her from leaving.

Hack was sent to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility with bail set at $500 cash or $1,000 bond on that initial charge and was released the same day on that bail.

Troopers would not release the name of the alleged victim.

After being unable to locate Hack on the new charges against him, troopers said a warrant was issued for his arrest Feb. 9. Hack turned himself in Tuesday after troopers contacted him by phone, they said.

Mr. Hack was arraigned in Town Court and sent to the county jail without bail.
