TUPPER LAKE, NY - The Tupper Lake Chamber of Commerce has announced that the Tupper Lake Tinman Triathlon has linked with the TOUGHMAN Half Iron Series.
The Tupper Lake Tinman is one of the oldest and longest running triathlons in the United States, having established a strong following of triathletes who hail from the Northeastern Untied States and Canada every June to compete on the beautiful Adirondack mountain course, many bringing entire families as theyve come to recognize the added vacation and hospitality of the Adirondack region.
On June 28, 2014, The Tupper Lake Tinman will celebrate its thirty-second year of racing and its first year as part of the TOUGHMAN Half Iron Series. The TOUGHMAN Half Iron Series is a six-race national series made up of high caliber independently owned races that will culminate with a Championship race in Croton Point Park, New York on Sept 7th, 2014.
As the newest addition the TOUGHMAN family, Tupper Lake Tinman joins the Deuces Wild Triathlon Festival in Arizona, the Ocean Shores Triathlon in Washington State, the Pell City, Alabama triathlon and Toughman Indiana. Tinman race organizers say that the benefits are twofold by banding together as part of the TOUGMAN series: the racing circuit affords additional competitive racing opportunities for the athletes, and the independent grass routes races such as Tupper Lakes will be gain a stronger position in an increasingly competitive triathlon market.
The partnership with TOUGHMAN is not the only change coming to Tinman for 2014. The race will also be bringing back an old race staple that has been missing the past few years: the crowd favorite post-race Chicken BBQ. In addition, race participants and spectators will also find an enhanced post race festival with live music, beer and more.
The Tupper Lake Tinman was established in 1983, and is owned by the Tupper Lake Chamber of Commerce.
The race is operated by the Chamber in conjunction with The Tinman Race Committee headed by Race Director, Ted Merrihew, and Assistant Director, Maynard Peroza. The triathlon itself consists of three classes: the half-iron, sprint and relay. For more information about the 2014 TOUGHMAN Tupper Lake Tinman, visit www.tupperlaketinman.com.
