Free education for inmates is wrong

To The Editor:

Please tell me that the governor of New York state has finally flipped his lid. How can he ask state taxpayers to pay $5,000 per inmate to get a college degree?

We have students who can’t afford the price of college or even get loans to offset the cost.

Our school systems are struggling to stay afloat since he cut our school aid.

Companies are leaving our state due to high taxes, and our young people are leaving the state to find jobs.

So who is left has to pay the high taxes? The retired blue collar workers are on a budget. We have seen our gas prices go out of sight, and our cost of food climbing every day.

And now he wants to give free education to inmates. If this doesn’t get you mad, then I don ‘t know what will.

I as a taxpayer hope like hell that you turn the request for inmate education down.

Way to many hard working people should not see less and inmates get more. It’s wrong.
