Funeral services for T. Lillian Douglas, age 83 of New York Avenue in Ogdensburg, will be held on Monday (Feb 24, 2014) at 10:00am at Notre Dame Church with Rev. F. James Shurtleff officiating. Her place of rest will be at Foxwood Memorial Park.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2-4 & 6-8pm at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home. Mrs. Douglas passed away at the Riverledge Healthcare Facility on Thursday (Feb 20, 2014) surrounded by her loving family.
Surviving are her children Thomas Douglas of Ogdensburg, Hassie & Donald McCarney of Ogdensburg, Carolyn & Robert Pratt of Massena; three sisters Norma Pettigrass of Auburn, Mary Bigelow of Lake Placid and Linda Brasley of Rochester; nine grandchildren Jodi Harper, Rebecca Boyd-Vargas, Douglas McCarney & his companion Kristina Barton, Patrick McCarney, Katelyn McCarney & her companion Chris McCready, Nate McCarney, Robert Pratt II, James Pratt and Alyssa Douglas; four great-grandchildren Alex & Kayla McCarney, Jacob LaFave and Haile Pratt.
Her husband Robert Douglas and her son Richard Douglas predeceased her in 1992 and a daughter Debbie Boyd in 2010.
Lillian was born on March 1, 1930 in Auburn, NY a daughter of the late Eugene & Caroline (Oropallo) Deluise. She graduated from St. Alphonsus High School and continued her education at the St. Lawrence Psychiatric School of Nursing. She then married Robert J. Douglas on October 21, 1950 at the St. Francis Church in Auburn, NY. During her career she was employed as an LPN at St. Josephs Nursing Home for 30 years and then joined the Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley team for a period.
She was a longtime communicant of Notre Dame Church and enjoyed watching TV, traveling, cooking, baking, reading, talking on the telephone to friends and family. She will be remembered for her witty sense of humor and kindness to others. Memorial gifts in lieu of flowers can be made to Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley or the SPCA.
