Massena mayor called a bigot for statement on pit bull owners with tattoos

To The Editor:

In reference to the article on welfare fraud, let me just say that I do agree. I am all for drug testing and such. However, my issue is with the statement that Mr. Hidy made about “people with tattoos and pitbulls.”

I am not sure he could have come any closer to being a bigot. Not everyone with tattoos or pitbulls are screwing the system. Not everyone screwing the system has tattoos or pitbulls. I know people who are misusing the system that have no tattoos or pets.

This statement was way out of line Mayor Hidy. This statement is beyond insulting to the people who do have tattoos and pets (not just pits) yet do not misuse the system. Before you make your bigoted statements, maybe you should think first next time.

I am all for the new policy, and I am 100 percent for drug testing to receive benefits, but I am totally against a mayor who makes no attempt to hide his bigotry.
