COLTON - A 19-year-old Homer man was air lifted to Fletcher Allen Hospital in Burlington, Vt. Wednesday evening following a two-vehicle accident in the town of Colton.
Three others were transported to Canton-Potsdam Hospital for injuries they received in the 4:42 p.m. accident.
The incident occurred on state Highway 56, just south of the Tucker Road, near the Colton-Pierrepont town line.
Deputies said Thomas E. Belton, 19, of 5164 Route 41, Homer, was northbound on state Highway 56, crossed over into the south bound lane and struck a vehicle operated by Cynthia M. Erwin, 59, 99 County Route 58 Colton.
Mr. Belton was transported to Canton-Potsdam Hospital with injuries to his lower body and head. He was then air lifted to Fletcher Allen.
Michelina E. DiMatteo, 18, 21 Dana Crescent St. Brasher Falls and Emily R. Colloca, 18, 193 Hunter Ave. Babalon were passengers in Beltons vehicle and were transported to Canton-Potsdam Hospital for their injuries. Ms. Erwin was also transported to Canton-Potsdam Hospital.
@Normal:The Sheriffs office was assisted on scene by Colton Fire and Rescue, Pierrepont First Responders, Parishville Rescue, Potsdam Rescue, and the New York State Police.
The investigation is continuing and charges are pending.
