IDENTIFY THEFT - CANTON - Canton-based state police charged Matthew L. Gussow, 28, of Pomona with first-degree identity theft Wednesday following an investigation into a fraud complaint filed with troopers on Nov. 2 from the town of Canton.
CRIMINAL CONTEMPT - SARANAC LAKE - Ray Brook-based state police picked up Raymond R. Trimm, 27, of Winthrop Tuesday on a bench warrant from St. Lawrence County as he arrived in Saranac Lake aboard a Trailways bus.
Trimm was charged with second-degree criminal contempt, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument, possession of a controlled substance outside its original container and a public health law violation.
Troopers said they were advised at about 11 a.m. Tuesday that Trimm, who was wanted on a bench warrant from St. Lawrence County, was on a Trailways bus that was to arrive in Saranac Lake. He was arrested when the bus stopped near the Fusion Market in Saranac Lake and was found in possession of suboxone and a hypodermic needle.
He was arraigned in North Elba Town Court and sent back to the custody of state police for transport to St. Lawrence County to answer the bench warrant charges. He will reappear Monday evening in North Elba Town Court.
State police were assisted by the Saranac Lake Police Department.
PROPERTY DAMAGE ACCIDENT - MASSENA - State police investigated a number of property damage accidents around the region on Wednesday. Among those:
■ Ellen Marie Nesbitt, 46, of Norwood and Ronald J. Bacon, 53, of Massena were involved in a two-vehicle collision at 7:47 a.m. on state Route 56, near the Pleasant Valley Road, in the town of Potsdam.
■ Earl Alexander, 49, of Chase Mills at 8:04 a.m. on state Route 310, near Route 345, in the town of Madrid.
■ Thomas W. Macomber, 21, of Msssena at 8:40 a.m. on state Route 56, near County Route 46A, in the town of Norfolk.
■ Mackaly L. Simpson, 20, of North Lawrence and William R. Parkman, 57, of Duncanville, Texas, were involved in a two-vehicle collision at 12:30 p.m. on Route 11, near Desmond Road, in the town of Lawrence.
