Wind can’t distrupt Pike Challenge

WADDINGTON - It was ill wind and it absolutely blew no good on Feb. 22 at the St. Lawrence River Walleye Association’s Northern Pike Challenge which was staged in Waddington on Feb. 22.

The derby organizers were hoping to draw 1000 anglers and came very close despite custing up to 50 mph.

The challenge drew 806 adult anglers and 70 youngsters competing in the youth division.

Gage Lamb led the Youth Division with his first place perch while Perry Durgan Sr. led the Big Pike Division. He released his winning pike.

Cody Pernice won the Big Walleye prize with a 10-pounder.

Hello Dave, I am the announcer on stage with camo coat i will send you the winners and the weights this morning , thanks for your help Dave , Mike PS fyi this event is our only fundraiser we gave out in cash and prizes 20k , we were joined by the wounded warrior outdoor adventures group of 20, we paid tribute by the beautiful singing of the National Anthem by Lacy Ray Stoddard Peets , this event will be last Sat in Feb. next year 2015, our next event will be the Opening Day Derby (walleye event) first Sat in May.
