CRIMINAL MISCHIEF - MASSENA - Village police charged Joseph P. Sokolowski, 40, formerly of 19 Washington St., Massena, with fourth-degree criminal mischief and endangering the welfare of a child at 9:35 p.m. Monday at his estranged wifes residence. Police said an allegedly intoxicated Sokolowski went to the home of Francine Sokolowski, his estranged wife, Monday evening and was involved in a domestic dispute her, slamming doors and being confrontational in his dealings with his estranged wife and 14-year-old stepdaughter, who was babysitting a small child under three years of age. Police said when the teenager took the baby into a bedroom and locked the door to contact police Sokolowski kicked the door to her room, breaking the door frame. He also reportedly folded up a Pack and Play when the baby was still inside it. He was arraigned Tuesday morning by Massena Village Justice Eric J. Gustafson and sent to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Faility with bail set at $1,000 cash or $2,000 bond. The court was also informed St. Lawrence County Court had issued a bench warrant for Sokolowksis arrest alleging he had violated the conditions of his release under probation supervision by checking himself out of a treatment program against medical advice.
