MASSENA: Phyllis M. Gorman, formally of 86 Prospect Ave. passed away on Sunday March 2, 2014 at the St. Regis Nursing Home where she had been a resident since 2011. Friends and family may be received on Sunday March 9, 2014 from 4-7 P.M. Funeral services will be held 12:00 P.M. Monday March 10, 2014 at Sacred Heart Church with the Rev. Donald J. Manfred officiating. Interment will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Waddington in the spring. Phyllis was born on Oct. 5, 1927 in Louisville the daughter of Leslie and Mabel Deurushia. She graduated from Massena High School in 1944 and married Edward Gorman on June 19, 1948 at the St. Lawrence Church, Louisville by the Rev. Wilfred Nugent. Edward predeceased her and she later married James Dupray on October 23, 1987. He predeceased her on May 12, 1990. Phyllis was a sales clerk at J.C. Penney and a member of the Sacred Heart League and LCBA, she also enjoyed playing cards, Bingo and volunteering at St. Vincent De Paul, Massena Memorial Hospital, and being an Election Inspector. She was a member of the Massena Grange and Massena Moose Lodge, American Legion and Brasher Falls Quad-Town Senior Citizens. Phyllis is survived by a sister, Doris Stickney on NC, several nieces and nephews and her good friends Laura Jandrew and Patricia Collins. She was predeceased by a brother James Premo and sister Ann Dodge of NH. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society.
