PRISON CONTRABAND - MASSENA - Canton-based state police charged Andrew J. Northrup, 16, of 94 Stoughton St., Massena, with unlawful possession of marijuana and second-degree introduction of prison contraband at 12:20 a.m. Thursday at 17 Commerce Lane in Canton.

Massena-based state police on Wednesday charged Joseph D. Mitchell, 18, of 237 County Route 43, Lot 40, with misdemeanor second-degree obstruction of governmental administration and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation Northrup had been charged with a misdemeanor count of false personation.

Troopers alleged Northrup provided them with a false name and date of birth Tuesday when he, Mitchell and a third teen were charged with unlawful possession of marijuana at Mitchell’s residence. Mitchell was charged with obstruction Wednesday because he allegedly knew Northrup provided the false information, troopers said.

When troopers arrived at Mitchell’s residence about 2:30 p.m. Wednesday to charge the two men, they allegedly detected a strong smell of marijuana and seized a small quantity of marijuana found inside the home.

Northrup, who had a warrant for his arrest, was arraigned in Stockholm Town Court and posted $100 cash bail on that warrant and was sent to the county jail with bail also set at $250 cash on the false personation charge.

PETIT LARCENY - POTSDAM - Canton-based state police charged Barbara A. Brossoit, 22, of Norfolk with petit larceny after responding to a shoplifting complaint at 8:34 p.m. Thursday at the Potsdam Walmart.

STOLEN PROPERTY - NORFOLK - Massena-based state police charged Tyler A. Valdez, 16, of 19 Colgate Drive, Massena, with fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property Thursday following an investigation into a burglary complaint filed with troopers at 8:01 p.m. Thursday from the town of Norfolk.

DWAI - LOUISVILLE - Massena-based state police charged Scott T. Pierce, 22, of Massena with driving while ability impaired by alcohol and unlawful possession of marijuana and ticketed him for speeding and operation of an uninspected motor vehicle following a traffic stop at 11:41 a.m. Thursday on state Route 37 in the town of Louisville.

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF - BOMBAY - Malone-based state police charged Ryan R. Avery, 34, of Moira with fourth-degree criminal mischief and second-degree harassment after responding to a domestic dispute complaint at 12:35 a.m. Friday in the town of Bombay.

PROPERTY DAMAGE ACCIDENT - WESTVILLE - State police investigated a number of property damage accidents around the region on Thursday/ Among those:

■ Carin L. Carlin, 29, of Bombay at 7:31 p.m. on County Route 4, near Route 37, in the town of Westville.
