WADDINGTON - It was ill wind and it absolutely blew no good on Feb. 22 at the St. Lawrence River Walleye Associations Northern Pike Challenge which was staged in Waddington on Feb. 22.
The derby organizers were hoping to draw 1000 anglers and came very close despite custing up to 50 mph.
The challenge drew 806 adult anglers and 70 youngsters competing in the youth division.
Gage Lamb led the Youth Division with his first place perch while Perry Durgan Sr. led the Big Pike Division. He released his winning pike.
Cody Pernice won the Big Walleye prize with a 10-pounder.
