Massena—Shirley A. Premo, 84, of Orlando FL, former resident of Massena, passed away Monday evening March 3, 2014 at Winter Park Care and Rehab surrounded by her loving family. She had been under the care of Hospice and in failing health for several months.

Shirley was born on October 23, 1929 in Potsdam, the daughter of the late Lawrence and Marion Forbes. She graduated from Potsdam Central School and on June 10, 1950 married Charles “Chuck” F. Premo of Massena at St. Mary’s Church in Potsdam, NY. Charles predeceased her on December 12, 2007. Shirley worked at Kennedy Shoes in Massena for several years and then retired, moving to Orlando, FL with Charles in 2004 and enjoyed the sunshine, time spent with her grandchildren, family and friends. In 2013 she moved to Winter Park Care and Rehab where she enjoyed the many activities including dancing with her friends.

Surviving Shirley are her three children, Michael Premo of Orlando, FL; Richard and Cindy Premo of Leominster, MA; Cindy and Chris Barney of Orlando, FL; five grandchildren; her brother and his wife, Al and Nancy Forbes of Whitesboro, NY; her step-mother Irene Forbes of Massena, NY and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Shirley’s life will be held at the Phillips Memorial Home, Massena in the summer of 2014, with interment to take place in Calvary Cemetery, at the convenience of the family.
