Norwood Village Green seeking funding for lighting upgrades at bandshell

NORWOOD - The Norwood Village Green Concert Series is excited to announce a new campaign on Adirondack Gives, the crowdfunding site for Adirondack region nonprofits.

“Light Up the Norwood Village Green Concert Series” is raising money for the Norwood Village Green Concert Series Inc to help fund the beginnings of a new lighting system for the Norwood Bandshell. In this particular fundraising effort the series hopes to raise $800 through Adirondack Gives to purchase two Mega Par Profile Systems. Each system includes four Mega Par Profile Lights, a built-in control with a variety of chase programs, a stand with a soft pack carrying case and a foot controller.

This is the first step in replacing our 12 Par lamps that are deteriorating. Eventually the entire system will be replaced with 12 Spectra LED Par 100 lamps.

“The planned overhaul of the lighting system for the Norwood Village Green Bandshell has been completed and it is now time to begin the overhaul process. The series has served over 600,000 audience members, school children and performers over the past 40 years and we hope that many people will give something to this cause,” according to Joseph M. Liotta, president and founding program director.

The Concert Series needs new lighting instruments for the Norwood Village Green Bandshell. The current lighting instruments are at the end of their useful lives and becoming difficult to maintain. They are also costly to run and generate heat that is uncomfortable for the performers in summer conditions.

Additionally the new lighting system will be invaluable in enhancing the aesthetic presentation enabling the series audiences added visual delight to the music, theater, and dance performances. The part of the new lighting overhaul that this project will fund also gives the series the ability to have portable lighting for its rain site, particularly in the municipal building.

The project will be live at for 59 days. The goal is to raise $800.

The Norwood Village Green Concert Series was founded in 1974 and has the entire north country with a free, state of the art, much awarded outdoor concert series various festivals, concerts, workshops and other activities over the years.
