Thunder 16U boys, girls; Ice Storm 16U, 12U teams still hunting for state titles


AMHERST - The St. Lawrence Thunder downed the Long Island Edge 5-0 Saturday to advance to the semi-final round of the New York state Tier II 16U championship.

The Thunder will meet the Greater New York Stars in one semifinal game with the winner facing the winner of the New Hartford-Monroe County matchup for the state title.

ROCHESTER - The St. Lawrence Thunder and Potsdam Ice Storm 16U teams both advanced to the semi-final round of the New York state Tier II 16U girls’ championship.

The Thunder, who downed Brewster 3-2 Saturday, will meet Monroe County in one semi-final matchup.

The Ice Storm will face off against Brewster in the other semi-final after edging Troy-Albany 3-2 Saturday.

The Thunder edged West Seneca 1-0 and the Ice Storm dropped Skaneateles by the same 1-0 score in Friday night action.

ROCHESTER - The Potsdam 12U team dropped West Seneca 6-1 Saturday afternoon after downing the Buffalo Regals 3-1 earlier in the day.

Potsdam will meet the CNY Bobcats in one semi-final game with Hamburg facing the Lady Islanders in the other state semi-final matchup.
