Tri-Town PWs advance to Northeast Regional semis; Louisville 18U keep winning

CRANSTON, R.I. - The New York state Tier III 12U champions remain unbeaten at the Tier III Northeast Regionals.

Tri-Town broke a 1-1 tie with two third-period goals from Payton Felix Saturday morning to skate to a 3-1 victory over Avon, Conn. Jah Robertson had scored a first-period marker for the winners, and Avon had evened the score in period two,

Grant Taylor had two assists for Tri-Town, and Rico DiMatteo stopped 14 shots.

Torran Robertson stopped 12 shots to blank the Brewins of Massachusetts 5-0 in a Saturday afternoon affair.

Kaleb Rathbun led the winners with two goals an assist, and Jah Robertson added a goal and two assists. Felix and John Sullivan also scored for Tri-Town, while Carter Rose and Tyler Svarczkiopf were credited with assists for the winners.

Tri-Town will meet the Maine represenative at 8 a.m. Sunday, with the winner of that contest earning a bid to the Northeast Tier III 12U championship game this afternoon.

Tier III do not have national tournaments.



AMHERST - It will be anorth country affair when Louisville and Saranac Lake meet this morning in a Tier III 18U semi-final matchup.

Louisville.

Louisville takes a 3-0 record into the final day of state tournament play after downing Great Neck 3-1 Saturday afternoon. They also have a 2-1 win over Mohawk Valley and a 7-1 victory over Fulton on their opening round resume.

Saranac Lake advanced to the semis with a 1-1 tie with Bear Mountain Saturday. They also tied Jamestown 3-3 and edged the Valley Eagles 4-3 in opening round play.

The winner of this morning’s north country showdown will meet the victor of the Bear Mountain - Great Neck clash for the state title.



ROCHESTER - A one-goal loss to Cazenovia Saturday morning cost the Potsdam Ice Storm a chance to advance to the Tier II 19U women’s semi-finals.

The Ice Storm ended their play in the state tournament with a 2-1 victory over Brewster after falling on the short end of the 3-2 score in the game against Cazenovia. The Ice Storm had opened state play with a 2-2 tie with Skaneateles.
