POTSDAM - Join us today through Friday for Get Your Business Online Week, when the SUNY Canton SBDC, the Reh Center for Entrepreneurship at Clarkson University and Google are partnering together to get area businesses online and growing. A series of free, live streamed workshops will provide businesses with advice and tips on various ways they can get their business online.

Today, 97 percent of Internet users look online for local products and services, yet 55 percent of American businesses do not have a website. Getting online is the fastest and easiest thing business owners can do to grow their business. Over the next three years, businesses that make use of the web are expected to grow 40 percent faster than those who don’t.

Throughout the week, Google will be hosting free virtual workshops covering topics ranging from how to build a website to measuring results online. The week’s activities will not only showcase the value of the Internet as a tool to help small businesses grow but also provide an opportunity for local business owners to connect and share insights. Participants can look forward to a variety of sessions:

Build a Free Website and Website Best Practices: Today from 1 to 3 p.m.

The web is where we go to find things, so it is more important than ever that every local business have an online presence. Building a website can be fast, easy and free for a year through www.gybo.com. Learn how to get online and make sure your website can be found by customers.

Get Online. Get on the Map: Wednesday, 1 to 3 p.m.

Make sure your business can be found on the web, in Search and Maps, with a free business listing on Google. Use Helpouts by Google to connect with industry experts who provide real-time help across topics from technology to small business.

Expand your Online Presence: Thursday, 1 to 3 p.m.

Promote your business online and attract new customers. We’ll cover free tools for monitoring your business online and you’ll learn how to manage it on-the-go. And with a deep dive session on AdWords, Google’s online advertising platform, you’ll learn how your business can place ads next to Google search results to boost website traffic and sales.

Measuring Success with Website Analytics: Friday, 1 to 3 p.m.

Measure your website traffic to understand your customers and improve your online business. Set measurement goals that are right for your business and learn how to use data to make better business decisions.
