RESTON, Va. - Kaden Pickering scored a powerplay goal at the 12:35 mark of the second period that proved to be the game winner as the St. Lawrence Thunder edged the Chicago Hawks 2-1 on the final day of pool play in the Tier II 16U national champions.

Hayden Hart and Chad Vaney drew assists on the gamewinner.

Pickering had scored an unassisted goal in the first period, but the Hawks even the score at 1-1 early in the second period.

Jonathan Stone had 10 saves for the Thunder, sanctioned by Massena Minor Hockey. Bradley Neal stopped 24 shots in the Chicago cage.
