DWI - MASSENA - Village police charged Louis P. McClure Jr., 55, of 3 Clark St., Massena, with driving while intoxicated at 1:32 p.m. Thursday after responding to civilian complaints of a reckless driver on Andrews Street. Police said they located McClure after he struck a stop sign on Allen Street at Andrews and his car became stuck in a snowbank. He was additionally ticketed for failure to stay in lane, failure to wear a seatbelt and failure to keep right and charged with reckless driving and consuming alcohol in a vehicle on a public highway. Police said McClure was unable to ambulated after being stopped and was transported to Massena Memorial Hospital, where he was held overnight. Police said his blood alcohol content was not available pending the results of a blood test taken at Massena Memorial Hospital.
McClure was released from Massena Memorial Hospital Friday morning, arraigned by Massena Town Justice Gerald P. Sharlow and sent to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility with bail set at $1,000 cash. The court, noting it was concerned by a report that McClures alcosensor reading had been above 0.30 percent, also immediately suspended McClures operating privileges pending prosecution of his case.
THEFT OF SERVICES - MASSENA - Village police charged Bonnie S. LaMay, 46, of 1968 County Route 38, Norfolk, with theft of services at 122:35 a.m. Friday after she reportedly took a cab ride from Norfolk to Massena and then refused to pay her $28 fare. Police said Lamay, who appeared to be heavily intoxicated, was unable to recognize the residence she wanted to go to when she arrived in Massena and then had the cab driver take her back to her residence. When she refused to pay the fare, the cab driver drove her to the village police station. She was held in the village lockup overnight and released Friday morning.
SPEEDING - MASSENA - Village police ticketed Aladeen A. Albasheer. 32, of Maple Street, Potsdam for speed in zone at 10:47 p.m. Thursday following a traffic stop on state Route 37.
UNSAFE BACKING - MASSENA - Village police ticketed Carrigan A. Lamb, 17, of Rooseveltown for unsafe backing at 3:02 p.m. Thursday following a property damage accident on East Orvis Street. Police said Lamb backed into a vehicle operated by Debora J. Cox of Malone at 33 East Orvis St.
DESIGNATED LANE - MASSENA - Village police ticketed Beverly A. Deno, 81, of 9 ONeil Road, Massena, with failure to use designated lane at 12:23 p.m. Friday following a property damage accident on Main Street.
