MCS makes personnel actions during board meeting


MASSENA - The Massena Central School Board of Education took a number of personnel actions Thursday night.

Timothy Martin was appointed as a groundsman, and Cheryl Holmes was appointed as a bus driver for four hours a day.

A number of substitutes were also approved, including Vickie Oakes, Gabriel Hinkley, D’Ann Page and Zoe Zagrobelny as teacher substitutes, Lori Cope as a substitute bus driver, and Christopher Castell, Mary Rose Connor, Ryan DeCarlo and Tanya LaShomb as support staff substitutes.

Board members, after tabling the action last month, appointed Shane Halladay as the Tech Prep coordinator The position will be paid for through the Paul Smith Fund.

Election inspectors were also appointed for the May 20 budget vote. They included Susan Bellor as chief election inspector and Christina Hamel, Jean Jarvo, Joanne MaComber, Barbara Cunningham and Mary Ann Taraska as election inspectors, and William Shirley as election machine inspector/calibrator.

The board also accepted the resignation of Claudeen Watkins as district substitute caller and the retirement of Beverly Eastwood as nurse.
