Graveside services for Irene B. Brooks, age 92 of Sand Street in Brier Hill will be held on Friday May 23, 2014 at 1:00pm at Ingham Cemetery with Pastor David Sheppard officiating. Calling hours will be held at the cemetery prior to the service from 12:00 – 1:00pm.

Surviving are her children Joe Brooks & his companion Judy Wiles of Chaumont; Mary Cobb & her husband Charles, Theresa & Si Aldrich all of Brier Hill and Shirley Bass & her husband Rick of Hammond; a daughter-in-law Bonnie Brooks of Heuvelton; 11 Grandsons, 9 Granddaughters; along with several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews & cousins.

Three sons George “Bub”, Emerson & John Brooks; a daughter Marjorie Kingston & her husband Dave; a brother Donald Flight & three sisters Mae Mitchell, Pearl Rheome and Helen Brooks predeceased her.

Irene was born on November 1, 1921 in DePeyster NY, a daughter of the late Stephen W. & Mabel (Alguire) Flight. She graduated from Morristown High School and married Theron A. Brooks on April 16, 1941 at the Morristown Methodist Church with Rev. Carling officiating.

Irene worked at the Home Restaurant in Hammond for a few years and co-owned and operated the family farm with her husband. She enjoyed dancing, watching TV, reading, cooking, canning and spending time with her family.
