MASSENA- Douglas P. Kennedy, 83, 200 Jefferson Ave., passed away Friday April 4, 2014 at the Highland Nursing Home, where he had been a patient since March 18, 2014.

Douglas was born on November 5, 1930, in Massena, NY, son of the late Hartley G. and Mabel V. Hawkey Kennedy. He was a Massena High School Graduate, and on September 8, 1951, he married Korleen O’Shaughnessy in Massena, NY. She predeceased him on May 8, 2011.

Doug Worked for Alcoa for 25 years before he and his wife purchased the K&K Lounge, which they co-owned and operated from 1972 until 1999, when he retired. He was a Member and Past Deacon of the Massena First Methodist Church, as well as the Elks Lodge #1702, Moose Lodge #1110, and a 50 Year Member of the Masonic Lodge #513.

He always enjoyed his friendships at the K&K Lounge, playing pool, fishing as well as an avid golfer.

Douglas is survived by his son, David F. Kennedy, Massena; and his daughter, Heather M. Kennedy, Massena; and his grandchildren, Mindy Couper, Dustin Kennedy, Kevin D. Kennedy, Neil P. Kennedy, Victoria Burgess, and Chelsea VanGuilder; and three brothers, William B. and Thelma Kennedy, Boston; Philip and Barbara Kennedy, Massena; and Neil and Tina Kennedy, Massena; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Besides his loving wife, Douglas was predeceased by three brothers, Donald, Robert and Wayne Kennedy.

As per his wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral services. Burial will be in the spring at Pine Grove Cemetery #2, Massena.

Memorial contribution can be made in his memory to Hospice and Palliative care of the St. Lawrence Valley.
