Brasher Falls – Basil R. Bud French, 89, passed away peacefully Thursday April 10, 2014 at the St. Regis Nursing Home in Massena with his family at his bedside. Arrangements are entrusted to the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop.

Army. On December 7, 1945, he married Theresa M. Faucher, sharing 64 years together until her passing on February 6, 2010. Basil worked at ALCOA in Massena from 1946 until he retired as Foreman in 1977.
He was a outdoorsman; going to his camp in Reynoldston, hunting, fishing, 4-wheeling and cutting his own firewood. When the weather kept him indoors, music kept him busy, playing the guitar, banjo and mandolin.
He is survived by his children, Annette and Bob Keenan of Ford City, PA, Alan and Ann French of Brasher Falls, Susie and Tom Liberty of Norfolk, Elizabeth and Steve Fobare of Lawrenceburg, KY and Carl French of Brasher Falls; one sister, Christine and Robert Smith of Massena; one brother, Ronnie and Vivian French of FL; ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. One son, Clark French, predeceased him.
Following his wishes, there will be no calling hours or public funeral service. A private family service will be held at their convenience.
