MASSENA- Keith F. Sharlow, 81, 192 E. Hatfield Street, passed away late Friday night, April 11, 2014 at the Swain Health Center, Newville, PA, where he has been a resident for the past three months.

Keith was born September 16, 1932, in Massena, son of the late Eugene and Anna Lafave Sharlow. He graduated Massena High School in 1951, and enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving until his Honorable Discharge, in 1955 as 2nd Class Petty Officer. On October 18, 1952, he married Betty J. Hunter at St. Joseph’s Rectory, with Rev. Harold Skelly officiating.

Keith worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 37 years. First as a letter carrier and then as a Rural Mail carrier, retiring in 1988. He was a long time communicant of St. Joseph’s Church, and member of the St. Lawrence Council #1141 Knights of Columbus, where he previously served as Grand Knight. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #79.

He was an avid reader, who enjoyed bowling and in his earlier years liked to hunt. Keith always enjoyed his family and friends, and his computer.

Besides his wife of 61 years, Keith is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Gary Brown, Carlisle, PA; granddaughters Alicia and Andrew Di Zio, Alison and Brian Plunkett, and Amanda Brown; great granddaughter Kendall; his brother Francis “Frank” and Patricia Sharlow, Massena; a niece Pamela and Mark Bogdan; nephew Eric and Debra Sharlow, Massena; and three great nieces.

Friends may call at the Donaldson Funeral Home Wednesday, 2-4 and 7-9. Funeral services will be Thursday, at 11:30am, at St. Mary’s Church with Rev. Brian Stitt officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family at Pine Grove Cemetery Area #2.
