MASSENA: Erwin G. Derouchie, 70, of Elizabeth Ave. passed away on April 14, 2014 at his home surrounded by his loving family and the care of Hospice. Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held Thursday April 17, 2014 the Phillips Memorial Home, Massena. Friends and family may call on Thursday April 17, from 11:00 A.M. until the time the time of the service at 1:00 P.M. with Rev. Judy Van Kennen officiating. Interment will be in Carville Cemetery in Helena at the convenience of the family with full military honors. Erwin was born on August 16, 1943 in Potsdam, the son of Joseph and Thelma (Belile) Derouchie. Erwin proudly served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam conflict. He married Phyllis Airy on September 25, 1965 in Rochester, NY. Erwin was employed at St. Lawrence Seaway Development as a line handler for 10 years. He is survived by his wife Phyllis, two daughters Michelle and Guy Durant and Susanne and Brian Shannon both of Massena, three grandchildren, Shane Derouchie-Durant, Guy F. Durant III and Jaden R. Shannon all of Massena, a brother Joseph Derouchie of Massena, and a sister Vicky and Tom Collette of Rochester. He was predeceased by his sister Beverly Wilson and brother Francis Derouchie. Erwin enjoyed being outdoors where he liked to hunt and fish and taking rides on his motorcycle. He especially enjoyed the time spent with his family.
