Kesner, Fuentes lead St. Lawrence Central Class of 2014

BRASHER FALLS - St. Lawrence Central School has announced that their class valedictorian is Jenna Kesner. Jenna is the daughter of John and Elaine Kesner of Brasher Falls.

Jenna has participated in numerous extracurricular activities including National Honor Society, Spanish Club and the Horizons Program at Clarkson University. She served as the captain for both the varsity soccer and basketball teams. She has also received distinguished awards including the Section 10 academic award and the Section 10 sportsmanship award.

Jenna dedicates a lot of her time to her church, primarily within the youth group, children’s church and Vacation Bible School. Additionally, she was able to participate in a mission trip to Gulu, Uganda in the summer of 2012.

Jenna will be attending SUNY Potsdam this fall, where she will be pursuing a degree in science and/or the medical field.

The class salutatorian is Shane Fuentes. Shane is the son of Abel and Nereida Fuentes of Brasher Falls.

Shane is the president of the National Honor Society, a member of the SLC Whiz Quiz team and a member of the Spanish Club. Additionally, he participates on the varsity basketball team, and has been named to the Academic All-Northern team four times.

Shane volunteers his free time to numerous programs including Project Plush, Brasher Falls youth sports and the Special Olympics. He has been awarded numerous academic based accolades from St. Lawrence University, Nazareth College and Canisius College. He was the 2014 recipient of the Augsbury/ North Country Scholarship.

Shane will be attending college this fall and will be majoring in pre-medicine.
