BURGLARY - PARISHVILLE - Canton-based state police charged Shawn L. McGregor, 38, of Grantville Road, Norfolk, with a felony count of fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property.

The charges stem from an investigation by state police into an April 1 complaint that a laptop computer had been stolen from 382 West Parishville Road in the town of Parishville.

Troopers were able to locate the stolen laptop at McGregor’s residence on Grantville Road in Norfolk due to an app on the complainant’s smart phone that allowed her to track her computer.

McGregor was arraigned at the Potsdam Town Court and sent to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility without bail. He is scheduled to appear Wednesday in Norfolk Town Court.

McGregor has also been identified by Walmart staff in Malone as having shoplifted numerous items from the store, including a television, totaling $817.58, a few hours prior to his arrest. Charges are pending, troopers said.
