GRAND LARCENY - MASSENA - Village police charged Tyler J. McGregor, 21, of 124 Liberty Ave., Massena, with fourth-degree grand larceny and second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument Monday afternoon stemming from an investigation into an incident that took place on Feb. 10.
Police said McGregor reportedly stole a check for $1,086 written to his father for child support, signed his name and Terry McGregor Sr.s name on the check and cashed it at Community Bank.
The elder Mr. McGregor said he learned about the missing check when he received a letter from the St. Lawrence County Department of Social Services Support Collection Unit checking to make sure he had received the check. He said he learned the check had been sent to his previous address on Sycamore Street. He said a review of the check showed his named had been forged. A review of the Community Bank video reportedly showed his son cashing the check. The elder Mr. McGregor told police his son had also stolen from him in the past.
The younger McGregor was arraigned by Acting Massena Village Justice James M. Crandall and released under the supervision of the probation department.
