MASSENA - Massenas summer recreation program and Trinity Catholic School were approved this week to use buses from the Massena Central School District.
The board of education approved a bus request from the Massena Joint Recreation Commission to provide buses for the June 30 to Aug. 8 summer recreation program, and for the 2014-15 school year at Trinity Catholic School.
Interim Superintendent William H. Flynn said both requests come annually from the Recreation Commission and Trinity Catholic school.
Trinity Principal Kathy Behrens said the buses will be used to transport Trinitys students in grades pre-kindergarten through six who reside in the Massena Central School District.
The signed bus request forms that have already been received will be forwarded to Allen Rowledge, transportation director, she said in a letter to Mr. Flynn.
Recreation Director Richard A. Boprey requested the buses for this years summer recreation program, which includes trips to the Massena Town Beach and other venues.
As in the past, we will employ qualified Massena Central School bus drivers as well as pay the daily rental fee and supply fuel for the buses, Mr. Boprey said in his letter to district officials.
While the request from the Massena Joint Recreation Commission passed unanimously, board member Loren Fountaine was the lone no vote for Trinitys bus request.
