POTSDAM - Experienced jewelry artist Virginia Burnett is teaching a special jewelry making class at 10 a.m. May 10 at SLC Arts.
Burnett will teach students how to make their own pair of Bead Woven Earrings. While this class is great for beginners with no previous jewelry experience, because it uses basic right angle weave techniques it is also appropriate for intermediate-level bead weavers. Students will learn to weave a simple loop of Right Angle Weave with glass pearls, use seed and czech beads to embellish it, and complete the design by stacking the finished woven bead on a headpin to create an earring dangle. Most students will finish their earrings in class and everyone will take home an illustrated set of instructions to help them make more.
Cost is $28 and includes all materials. Students with vision impairments should bring their own magnifying device since there will be a small needle and small beads as part of the process. Class will meet in room 229, Downtown Snell Hall, 41 Elm St. Pre-registration through SLC Arts is required: 315-265-6860, www.slcartscouncil.org > Calendar.
