Salmon River laxmen down SLC; Potsdam falls to Canton

Salmon River outscored St. Lawrence Central 18-4 while Potsdam Central fell to Canton Central 16-7 in NAC varsity boys lacrosse action on Monday.

Salmon River 18, SLC 4: At Fort Covington, the host Shamrocks went ahead 6-1 by the end of the first quarter before going on to build a commanding 13-2 halftime lead to remain undefeated at 6-0 overall and 5-0 in the NAC.

Russ Oakes anchored the winning attack with four goals and two assists. Kyle Lewis (1 assist), Bryton Burns (1 assist), Alan Jacobs, Trenton Tarbell and Frank David netted two goals apiece. Dalton Roundpoint, Myles Delormier and Blaze White each notched singletons. Marshall Burninghausen paced the Larries (3-3, 3-3) with three goals and an assist while Luke Arquiett tallied a goal and assist.Tazz Oakes (6 saves) and Darius Lafrance (2 saves) combined to backstop the win while Kody Kocsis turned aside 10 shots working the SLC crease.

Canton 16, Potsdam 7: At the Potsdam turf field, the teams were tied 2-2 by the end of the first quarter before the Golden Bears outscored the host Sandstoners 11-1 over the course of the next two.Cody Moore (2 assists) and Jake Facey led the Canton attack with three goals apiece. Mark Mahoney, Peyton VanBibber and Louden Porter each netted a pair.

Max Warden paced the Sandstoners (2-5) with three goals. Josh Sanchez connected for a pair while Dylan Gruneisen and Richie Foster tallied the others. Keenan O’Gorman and Corson Green each logged solo helpers.

Nate Gibson stopped five shots in the winning effort. Chase Palmer (15 saves) and Damien Trimm (3 saves) combined to work the Potsdam crease.
