Massena Central laxmen turn back Potsdam

MASSENA - The Massena Central varsity boys lacrosse team netted an 8-3 NAC win over Potsdam Central at Mike Nicholas Field on Wednesday.

Evan Kassian and Henrick Angus anchored a balanced attack with two goals apiece as the Raiders worked their way to a 3-0 lead and never looked back for the win. Rhoades Tarbell (1 assist), Sako Rourke, Brendan Broderick and Cole Allen struck for the other goals. Nick Henrie tallied three assists while Ross Driscoll notched a solo helper.

Max Warden broke through for a pair of goals in the losing effort. Josh Sanchez struck for the other while Sam Woods recorded an assist.

Tyler Armstrong turned aside eight shots backstopping the win while Chase Palmer made seven saves for the Sandstoners (2-6).

The Raiders (5-2) will be headed to the Southern Tier this weekend with non-league game at Vestal on Friday at 7 p.m. and at Horseheads on Saturday at 11 a.m. The Sandstoners are slated to host NAC rival OFA on Monday at 7 p.m.

OFA HALTS C-P

Andrew Roddy delivered three goals and four assists to lead the offense while Quinton Denner stopped 12 shots in goal.

Austin Morley-Sloan tallied two goals with one assist for the Devils. Dave Prudhomme scored twice, Andrew and Austin Putman each netted one goal, Taylor Richardson scored a solo goal and Nate Peo passed out a pair of assists.

Scott Boyce and Nolan Whalen scored for C-P while Major McKinley turned aside 12 shots working the crease in the losing cause.
