Syracuse, NY- Funeral services for Virginia H. (Armstrong) Latter, 88, of Syracuse, will be held Friday, May 9 at 3 p.m. at the Seymour Funeral Home in Potsdam with the Rev. James Barnes officiating. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Parishville, NY.

Calling hours at the funeral home will be held Friday, May 5 from 1 – 3 p.m.

Mrs. Latter died Monday, May 5, 2014 at her home.

Surviving are a daughter, Jacqueline Pickett of Newport, RI; a son, Stephen Latter, of Camillus, NY; 4 grandchildren: Amy Mahonski, Blossburg, PA; Justin Drinkwine, Conquest, NY; Jesse Pickett, Newport, RI; and Jennifer Latter, Camillus, NY; 2 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and her loving companion, Horace Henderson of Syracuse. Her husband of 56 years, Jesse G. Latter, and a daughter, Carolyn A. Drinkwine, predeceased her.

Mrs. Latter was born in Tarpon Springs, FL, on February 25, 1926, the daughter of Hilda and Kenneth Armstrong of West Stockholm. She graduated from Potsdam High School and the Central City Business Institute, Syracuse. She was a licensed real estate broker for Dewitt Real Estate and R.E. Gifford Real Estate of Syracuse. She married Jesse G. Latter on August 22, 1944. The couple resided in Syracuse and spent summers at their camp on Leonard Pond in Colton. Mr. Latter died October 10, 2000.

Mrs. Latter was a member of Apple Valley United Methodist Church, 4424 S. Onondaga Rd., Nedrow, NY 13120. Memorial contributions may be made to the church or a charity of one’s choice.
