MASSENA – Ms. Janice E. Darringer (Siddon), 67, 6685 Reservoir Rd., Clinton, New York, (formerly of Massena) passed away peacefully, Wednesday evening, May 7, 2014, with her loving family at her side at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Cynthia Siddon.
Janice was born May 1, 1947, in Albany, New York, the daughter of the late Prentiss Sr. and Vera Fischer Darringer. She graduated from Potsdam High School and attended SUNY Oswego. On November 18, 1966, Jan married Quentin F. Siddon. That marriage ended in divorce in 1997.
She worked for Kinneys Drugs. She then became a teachers aide and substitute teacher for several years at Massena Central School, before being employed in the accounting department of Seacomm Federal Credit Union, Massena, until her retirement.
Jan was a devoted mother and adored spending time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed sewing, crafts of all kinds, and was an avid reader and animal lover.
She is survived by her two sons, Scott of Clinton, New York, and Christopher of Juneau, Alaska and their respective wives Cynthia and Elizabeth; three grandchildren: Mackenzie, 13, and Cooper, 10, of Clinton and Luke, 8 months, of Juneau. Jan is also survived by her brother, Prentiss Darringer, Jr. of St. Regis Falls, New York.
A memorial service will be held at the Donaldsons Funeral Home at the convenience of the family.
