Casino player says faith in power of prayer restored

To The Editor:

Power of prayer sometimes does work if you are not blind sighted.

I enjoy once in awhile playing the slot machines at the Akwesasne Mohawk Casino.

One day I walked in, and there was this beautiful 2014 Chevy Camero from Frenchie’s that they were going to draw for on 4-26-2014, I thought wow would I love to win that. I have never won anything that extravagant or any large amount of money, once in awhile I win some free play and a little bit of money but that is it.

The day before the drawing while I was at work I asked Chaplain Lamica if he would bless me to help me win that car, he chuckled but did it. That night before I went to bed, I got on my knees and prayed to god to help me win that car.

I have never prayed for myself before, I always pray for my loved ones. A year ago March 6 my youngest sister, Sheila, died of cancer.

I remember praying, pleading and begging god not to take her, but he did, so I had little doubt on power of prayer. That day of the drawing as I was pulling into the casino parking lot, I just happen to look at my clock radio and the time was 3:33, I thought that was weird, I don’t recall ever seeing that time on my clock, but most of the time I am at work at that time.

I walked in and started playing the slot machines focusing on winning some money. A little while later my name was called.

I was going to win some free play or a chance at the car. I reached in the bag and pulled out the ticket with the car on it.

I had a chance, and I was the first one picked. Half an hour later my name was picked again and I picked another ticket with the car on it, I was so excited, I said to the lady behind the counter, what if I pick out all 10 tickets with the car on it, will I win the car automatically, she said no you only get one chance, which I thought I should of got two chances, oh well I have never got this close before in my life.

Now it was eight o’clock, time to pick a brief case to open to win the car. The only number I could think of was the number 6, my sister Sheila died on the 6th and her birthday was May 26.

As the guy was opening the brief case, I remembered the time on my clock radio 3:33. Oh my god I thought, I was suppose to pick the number 3, it was to late my brief case was open and not the winner. Brief case number 3 was the winner.

If I had got that second chance like I was suppose to get, I would of won that car. Through the power of prayer I would be the owner of that Chevy Camero. So don’t give up on power of prayer.

Maybe it was to late to work for my sister Sheila. By the time they found the cancer, it was all through her body. She had no chance.
