NORWOOD: George Heil, 88 formerly of Norwood died Friday evening ( May 9,2014) at the St. Regis Nursing Home where he had been a resident since March 2011.
Family and friends are invited to call Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm for a joint visitation at the Phillips Memorial Home, Massena. Calling hours are also being held for his sister Julianna H. Kozsan who died a day earlier.
A joint Mass of Resurrection will be held Monday (May 12, 2014) at 12 Noon at the Church of the Sacred Heart with Rev. Donald J. Manfred presiding. The interment will follow in Visitation Cemetery, Norfolk. George was born in Romania April 2, 1926 the son of Wendel and Rosa (Rizer) Heil. He received his early schooling in Germany and moved to the United States in 1951. A marriage to Julie Bauer ended in divorce.
He is survived by his four children, Irene, Margaret, George and Joseph all of New Jersey, also a sister Elizabeth Schonberger of Norwood, many nieces and nephews. George was predeceased by his sisters Julianna Kozsan, Mary Napholtz, Rose Kovacs and a brother Gyula.
For many years George was a drywall installer who was known for his expertise in doing decorative ceilings throughout the area. Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Phillips Memorial Home, Massena. Online condolences may be made to www.phillipsmemorial.com.
