MASSENA - The Massena Central School District accepted over $16,000 in donations from three different groups on Tuesday evening.

The district will be getting $5,500 from Massena Music Friends, $3,040 from Nightengale Neighbors Parent Group and $7,475 from the Friends of Jefferson Parent Group.

“The (Massena Music Friends) donation will be used to buy some instruments - a Yamaha Clavinova electronic keyboard for the junior high school for general and vocal music, a Jupiter student model tuba for the elementary instrumental program and two three-quarter size string bass outfits for the elementary and junior high orchestra,” Superintendent William H. Flynn said.

The Nightengale Neighbors Parent Group funds will be utilized for the purchase of a classroom set of Kindles.

The money from the Jefferson Parent Group will be used for a new digital road sign for the school. The sign will be ordered by Stewart Signs and construction will be provided by Perras Excavating.
