SLC softball surges past SRF; N-N overcomes M-W


St. Lawrence Central overpowered St. Regis Falls while Norwood-Norfolk overcame Madrid-Waddington in NAC East Division varsity softball matchups on Tuesday.

SLC 16, SRF 0: At St. Regis Falls, the Lady Larries worked their way to a 3-0 lead through the first three innings before breaking the game open with an eight-run outburst in the fourth.

Lindsey Thayer hurled a one-hit shutout for the win, striking out xx and walking none.

Haleigh Agans led the way offensively with a homerun and double. Tera Douglas rapped a pair of doubles as the Lady Larries improved to 13-0 overall and 11-0 atop the East Division standings heading into an interdivisional game at Massena Central this afternoon starting at 4:30 p.m.

Kerrigan Roundeau doubled and took the loss for the Lady Saints.

N-N 15, M-W 7: In Madrid, Kirstin Barkley delivered a 4-5 effort with a double and two RBI while Cortney Wagstaff was 2-5 with a triple and two RBI as the Lady Flyers six runs in the fifth to come back from a 7-2 deficit.

Also contributing offensively for N-N were Katrina Durant (2-5), Breanna Deshane (2-5, 2RBI), Cortney Harvey (1-4), Gabi Cole (1-5) and Bryanna Powell (1-3), who fanned five and survived seven hits going the distance for the win.

Desiree Pryce stroked a pair of singles for the Yellowjackets. Sadie Newcombe, Marie Patenaude, Autumn Beckstead, Brooke Nichol and Alison Fobare each singled.

In other East Division softball on Tuesday, Chateaugay swept Parishville-Hopkinton by scores of 11-0 and 5-4 while Colton-Pierrepont downed Tupper Lake 18-1.

Chateaugay 11-5, P-H 0-4: In Parishville, Rachael Young threw a one-hit shutout in the opening game as Chateaugay (7-4, 7-3) swept an East Division doubleheader from the Panthers.

Kayla Legacy was the winner in game two for Chateaugay.

Kodi Perkins homered in game two for the Panthers (2-9) and doubled in the opener.


The two NAC Central Division softball matchups on Tuesday saw Brushton-Moira outscore Massena 9-5 and Gouverneur host Salmon River.

BMC 9, Massena 5: In Massena, the Lady Panthers went ahead 6-1 before the Lady Raiders closed the gap with three runs in their half of the fifth. Massena cut the deficit to 6-5 with a solo run in the sixth before BMC fashioned a decisive three-run rally in the seventh to seal the win.

Emily O’Connor (5K) went the distance for the win while Reaghan Peets (2K) was saddled with the loss.

O’Connor also played a lead role offensively with two hits, including a solo homerun. Jenna Dufrane tripled and scored a run. Kenzi Traynor singled and scored twice.

Bailey Dillabough was 2-4 with two doubles and two runs scored in the losing effort. Taylor Day had three hits, including a double. Chelsea Streeter doubled and scored a run. Amber Thomas singled and scored.

The Lady Raiders host an interdivisional game against East Division-leading SLC today starting at 4:30 p.m.
